Since November 24th...

I was having lunch with a good friend earlier this week, and she made an amazingly good point "Kristen, people want to know what you are doing. Tell them."

As I pondered that idea while enjoying my chicken Phad Thai, I realized she was right. I've been super quiet about what I am doing these days... mostly because, well, I am DOING things (you know, heads down, rocking and rolling)... and partly because I don't know what to say. OK...

"I never got Affirmagy profitable. It never fully took flight."

There, I said it.

The past couple of months have been filled with amazing things.... incredible things.... sadness, celebration, success and good old "some how, some way, we gotta make this work". I've started two blogs that I've never made live.... one celebrating 40; and the other about Design Duo, the other me. The "me" before Affirmagy. The me again, in a whole new, powerful, passionate way.

As I am writing this, I've made a decision. This is my blog. At least for now. I still believe - perhaps even more passionately than EVER - in designing a life you love. So, for the time being, this is my blog. My voice. A place for all the shades of Kristen Marie.

Affirmagy never fully took flight. At least not how I thought it would.

And I can't wait to tell you why it's been one of the best successes of my life!

My Masters in Intention

I am getting my masters degree in setting intentions and releasing the results. Here are some examples.

New makeup bag. For years I’ve been using one of these clear plastic bags that pillow cases come in, with the little snap. Yeah. Tacky. Because I carry my face in my car, I thought “Kristen, you should really have a respectable bag to put all these cosmetics in you silly woman” and I agreed with myself. About a month ago my friend Suzette intro’d me to Linda who is the rock star that runs Ladies Who Launch in Seattle. Invited to an event. I went to the panel discussion on launching a product line. One of the presenters created the coolest makeup bag on the market. There was a drawing for one of her bags. Guess who won?

Black suit jacket. I was ready for a new one...my favorite one has gotten a little over loved, and I said to myself “Boy I’d love to have a new black jacket for over jeans. That’s one of my favorite looks on me.” Fast forward to find me in Cleveland for the Metallica concert with my sister Galen. The night arrived she gives me four beautiful Garfield and Marks suits. One black. Fits me to a tee. Wearing it now.

Backpack. Ok this is wild. I’ve been walking to work occasionally. Let’s stress the “occasionally” shall we? And I was thinking that it would be great to have a super cool backpack to take with me. If you know me you know that this sentence alone is bizarre. Me with a backpack? Yeah, right. Please appreciate the fashion conundrum this puts me in. Until last week. Yes, last week two angels in my life – Suzette and Beth – decided to give me a birthday present. What was it, you ask? Well S & B used to rep Beijo bags. Don’t know the line? I’ll just say this: I am now the proud owner of the most darling pink shoulder bag/backpack convertible accessory ever made on Earth.

Dang, this setting intentions thing really works.

OK, there’s more. But I don’t want to overwhelm you. Let’s just say this; Consider setting some intentions, and releasing them. And then watch what happens. I think you’ll start to see miracles – unexplained good fortune – showing up. Very very very cool.

Get Into Action

Early Feb I decided to get into action. I was tired of feeling like things were in slow motion. So, I jumped on the phone and started reaching out and connecting with people I hadn't seen or talked to in a really long time. I set up calls and coffee dates with the sole (soul?) purpose of connecting with people to understand what THEY were up to in life. It was cool.

Then a funny thing happened. The more I reached out, the more people popped up. One day alone I had THREE emails from fabulous women that I hadn't talked to in months. One gal I hadn't talked to in a year. It was wild.

My friend Lindsay calls it stirring the pot. I call it tipping cosmic dominos. Whatever you call it, I encourage you to DO it. Get into action. Reach out. Listen to others. And be willing to powerfully share what's most important in your life.
